2022 and the clock is ticking...

Like many at this time of year, I’ve been self-reflecting and goal setting for the year ahead but have never felt the sense of urgency before as I do right now.

COP 26 gave me a push to accelerate the work we are doing here and so we will be launching our USA branch in 2022 and to kickstart that plan, I was lucky enough to be able to visit the Plant Based World Expo in NYC earlier this month. There I was greeted by many like-minded souls looking to change the world with their products and services, and the crowds helped prove that the interest from the mainstream in plant based products shows no signs of abating.

Most business owners I spoke to told me they will be growing their teams in the coming year and will be looking to hire mission-aligned people to help fuel their fire. It’s a smart move - hiring people who share your values on an intrinsic level brings momentum, loyalty and dedication to a business which cannot be matched by one focused upon profit alone.

The groundswell of demand for brilliant people has meant that there has never been a better time to look for a new role or start a new career. It coincides with two of the greatest global crises happening simultaneously (the pandemic and climate change) and many, many more “green jobs” created in the coming years as a result. The Covid reset exposed the inequities that lie within our society and saw us championing those everyday heroes who put their lives at risk for others.

With such uncertainty, “the journey and not the destination” becomes even more pertient to getting the most out of our lives as none of us know what lies around the corner, our own mortality in stark contrast against a virus-ridden background. We do not have infinite time, or infinite resources so how we spend them in the coming 8 years will determine the rest of history. What will be your contribution?
